Sun City residents who live in the core area must conform to minimum age restrictions and are members of the Sun City Civic Association. The core area offers many amenities and comforts. Very important in the community are the recreational facilities. The Association features two swimming pools, indoor shuffleboard courts, lawn bowling, horseshoes, ceramics, woodworking, art and concerts to name just a few. The Association also owns an RV storage park and has more than 130 clubs from which to choose. In the core area, but not part of the Association, are two 18-hole golf courses.
The community offers services such as Meals on Wheels, Sun City Concern, Inc.(a routine and emergency information service) and Hospice. The core area is built around a shopping center that includes grocery stores, drug stores, banks, travel agents, lawyers, restaurants and many other shops to meet the residents' everyday needs. The area also features more than 20 churches.
The nearly new, full service, 114-bed, acute-care Menifee Valley Medical Center is one of the many health care facilities offered in the valley. People who make Sun City their home come from all over the world and with them bring vast knowledge and experience.
The family areas surrounding the core area feature many recreational opportunities. The planned community known as Menifee has a 27-hole golf course, a lake with a jogging path all around, swimming pools and a country club. The children attend school in one of the finest school districts in California. A new satellite campus of Mt. San Jacinto college has recently been added.
Residents of Romoland live near the junction of the 215 and Highway 74, the road that leads through Hemet to the base of Mount San Jacinto. The peak of the weathered mountain stands 10,804 feet above sea level, the highest point in the San Jacinto Range and second highest in Southern California. The mountain's magnificent granite peaks, subalpine forests, and fern-bordered mountain meadows offer a unique opportunity to explore and enjoy a scenic, high-country wilderness area. The park offers two drive-in campgrounds near the town of Idyllwild. Most of the park is a designated wilderness area enjoyed by hikers and backpackers.
